About

Hi. I’m Rory. I’ve been Rory for nearly 50 years now. I’ve been a nurse since I was 17 years old all the way back to 1982. Being a nurse is all I know how to do. At the moment I work in Palliative Care.
What makes me tick? Well I have a couple of passions. Radio. Anything to do with radio, radio stations, radio jingles (especially radio jingles), radio DJs, radio ratings, radio studios. I even had a CB radio when I was a young fella. The list goes on. Best station ever, in my opinion, the old Radio Nova 88FM.
Cooking and baking. Don’t know where this one started of. Probably had to eat so became interested. Now I cook every day but I don’t get to spend as much time doing both as I would like. I’m always flipping through cookery books and food websites. On our return from the Middle East in 1999 (thats another story) I had this fancy idea that we might open a small restaurant. Long story short we didn’t. The security and comfort of a regular pay cheque as a public servant arriving into your bank account every month was very appealing and ultimately it won out. But …. you’d never know?
Gardening. I’m afraid that I have lost more vegetables, fruit and herbs than I’ve ever grown. But I keep trying.
Pottering. If pottering was an olympic sport then I’d have a drawer full of gold medals. Could spend days at it. In fact I’m not very good at doing nothing.
Lastly I can’t forget the beautiful Sharon who I met back in 1989 and we have been sharing our lives together since.
We live in Co. Kildare nestled between the banks of the Grand Canal on the east and the Bog of Allen to the west.
